It's Been a Busy Summer At The CoWorks!

If you were gone for the summer, here are some of the things you missed!

For starters, we took over Suite 302!! This adds 7 new offices to our space and allows members the option of having a private office that's seperate from the traditional CoWorking space.

Existing members who took offices up stairs include Jason Allers of Sterling Casualty Company LLCDave BulgerMax Matthews, Mike Wyant, and Stella of Tuzag, and David Badillo of Neatify.

New members who jumped right to the office option include Jami, Jay, and Jason (yes, really) of Priority IT Works, Stephanie Vavonese of SMV Recruiting , Marianna Zimmerman of CNY Central, Yinka, and Sean.

New Members who have joined the CoWorks over the summer include (but are not limited to):

Annalena, Alexandra Shytsman of (P.S. Her first cookbook was just published - congratulations!), Athena, Brendan, Bruce, Caitlin, Caleb, Calypso, Cihan (Summer intern for Eagle Bay Refrigeration from Binghamton Univeristy), David St. John of St. John CommunicationsHenryk, Katharine Chajka of Chajka enterprises, Kuki, Michele of Zodiac Metrics, Michelle, Micahel Collins of Eagle Bay Refrigeration, Rickey Brown of the CenterState CEO Minority Economic Alliance, Robert, Sheila, and Sonja!

If you lost count, that's TWENTY new members over the summer, not counting those who jumped direct to the 3rd floor! So if you see a new face be sure to say hello and welcome them to the CoWorks!

And we didn't just have a lot of new members, we had a lot of new events!

We started Rooftop Yoga which has become a big hit, not just with CoWorks members, but also the community! Lead by Katherine Frizzi (of Kathleen Yoga, Pilates & Meditation), Rooftop Yoga is a 60 minute yoga session appropriate for any skill level! These classes were (and remain) free for CoWorks members and are open to the Syracuse Community on a donation basis (CoWorks makes a small donation for each member that attends, but membres are welcome to contribute additional donations. Rooftop Yoga is 5:30 - 6:30pm every Wednesday (until the weather doesn't permit).

We also started EnergyUp! which is 30 minutes of movement and stretching on Monday afternoons and is now also open, free of charge, to community members!
We brought back Whiskey & Philosophy Roundtable! Open only to CoWorks members and CommonSpace Residents. Alternating between the 2nd Wednesday and Thursday of each month, Whiskey & Philosophy Roundtable starts off with discussion based on reading material (typically an article) chosen for each meeting. We've discussed concepts of digital privacy, politics (I don't think we started there but we ended up there that night), ethics, and more. Also, there's whiskey (which is probably why I can't remember more topics).

There was a Summer Session of Language classes and the Fall Session of Chinese, French, Italian, and Spanish classes begin later this month! Learn more HERE!

The Small Business Development Center of Syracuse has been running a series of Money Smart for Small Business workshops once a month through December, and Frank Cetera continues to host his satalite office from the CoWorks on Wednesdays!

Tech Geekery started rolling out part of their expansion by hosting a Social Media 101 class.

We had some amazing One Million Cups presentations over the summer and if you're interested in getting some crowdsourcing for your own business or business idea be sure to sign up HERE!

We've had Fresh Fruit from the Downtown Syracuse Farmer's Market every Tuesday thanks to Dallas at You Can Have Two and Tech Geekery

One of our members is involved in the new and popular Market at The Yard in Manlius which won't be going on for much longer if the weather turns too cold so be sure to check it out!

M&T Bank hosted a very successful workshop on the "Black Box of Financing" to help demystify the world of business financing.

Michael hosted a going away BBQ for his summer intern Cihan to which all members were invited and were able to partake of some awesome fare thanks to Michael and his wife Theresa!

Oh! And we had Eye Bulb Tours make us a really cool 360* Tour of the CoWorks! Check it out here!

Of course now we'll have to get another one for the 3rd floor so they don't feel left out!
